I recently qualified for the Boston Marathon and ran the fastest race of my life! But, I'm really just an average runner. Lucky for me the times to qualify for Boston are slower as you get older.
Most people slow down as they age. And some people are amazed that I am running much faster than I did 20 years ago. I'm amazed too!
When I returned to work and my private practice, I returned to what I tell patients every day. Hormone replacement therapy really changes your life.
So, truth be told I take hormone replacement therapy in a pellet form. Estrogen, Testosterone and Progesterone all wrapped up in a tic tack sized "pellet" that I place pretty much in my fat tissue of my hip. Yes I actually place my own pellet, because I'm the best and so I can know what my own patients go through.
Before I knew about hormones and the benefits of them I was living life like everyone else. I love to travel and do triathlons and of course spend time with my kids. About 5 years ago an entire year went by and I realized that the only place I travelled to was Michigan to see family (doesn't count) and I hadn't done a single triathlon or race.
It seemed normal. I was tired. At the end of the day I wanted to go home. I'm getting older. No I don't have a boyfriend I don't even have a sex drive.
I checked my hormone levels and turns out at 38 they were already low. Like zero for Testosterone. I started on hormone replacement. That year after I started I didn't spend my time resting because I was so tired. That year I travelled to Italy, Mexico and Florida. I completed my first Ironman Triathlon and I can't remember on the boyfriend part, but I WAS BACK.
Really since that moment I have become engaged in my life. Passionate about where I am going and motivated I would say as the key description. There is no question and I see it every day with my current patients that hormone replacement therapy gives back what we start to loose in our mid-life.
It gives back our zest for life, calms our moods, motivates us to do things and apparently making my dreams come true that I really still can't believe happened.
I believe in hormone replacement therapy and I want to educate everyone on the benefits. It has been a game changer for me. Seriously.
